The Levels of LinkedIn

There are 3 Levels within LinkedIn

Basic (free) Accounts:

Good for the general job seeker or anyone who wants to maintain a profile on LinkedIn

  • Find and reconnect with colleagues and classmates.

  • Request and provide recommendations.

  • Search for and view profiles of other LinkedIn members (limited).

  • Receive unlimited InMail messages (but can only send 3 a month).

  • Save up to three searches and get weekly alerts on those searches.

Premium Subscription:

Good for career professionals who are trying to connect with a lot more people

  • We do suggest utilizing the 30-day free trial of Premium if you’re looking to really amp up your job search; For these 30 days, you won’t be limited by messaging and searching restrictions

  • Access to see who viewed your profile

  • Can send InMails directly

Sales Navigator:

Best for recruiters and if you’re in a job where you need to find other business prospects

  • All the previous benefits

  • Advanced search tools for jobs, content, people, etc.

  • LinkedIn will also give you suggested leads and searches if you provide them with the information you’re looking for with prospects

  • Job change alerts, which is helpful to see if someone has recently switched positions

For your purposes, you only need a basic and free LinkedIn account. However, when you do want to seriously jump into job searching, we recommend trying out the 30-day free trial of the Premium Subscription, just to get the benefits during your search. Don’t forget to cancel it so you’re not charged after 30 days!
