Your elevator pitch is used to convey your best qualities and attributes to the interviewer or recruiter. An elevator pitch is usually 1 - 2 minutes, but can be as short as 30 seconds, depending on the type of conversation you are having. Often the time when you use your elevator pitch is going to be when your interview says, “So tell me about yourself.”
An elevator pitch ideally will include:
Your value for the company and opportunity
Depending on your style, the structure of your pitch may vary, but encompassing the points above can get you where you need to be. An elevator pitch is acting as a brief summary of why you are a great fit for this position.
A great way to practice this is explaining to your friends or family why you think this position is right for you and vice versa. As you are explaining, ask them what parts were convincing to them, and take note to build your case.
